Phase 2: Development Tools Setup

AIDE numbers (`0085665` West / `0085666` East), Dynatrace tenant URLs
(`skx14060`, `dfr17824`), and Splunk index/group names below reflect a
point-in-time snapshot. Confirm against the current platform inventory or
`#epic-azure-support` before treating any of them as authoritative.

Configure your development environment with infrastructure tools, monitoring access, and team communication channels.

Phase 2 Checklist

Configure Terraform access for infrastructure management
Set up HashiVault for secrets management
Access Monitoring Platforms (Splunk, Dynatrace)
Join Team Communication channels

Terraform

Get access to our Infrastructure as Code platform.

**Base Access (Required for all users):**

- `ARC_Terraform_Users`

**Project-Specific Access:**

**Epic on Azure West (aide-0085665):**

- Read: `ARC_Terraform_aide_0085665_Read`
- Write: `ARC_Terraform_aide_0085665_Write`

**Epic on Azure East (aide-0085666):**

- Read: `ARC_Terraform_aide_0085666_Read`
- Write: `ARC_Terraform_aide_0085666_Write`

Terraform Setup Verification

Once your access is approved:

Visit Terraform Enterprise
Login with your corporate credentials
Verify you can see the Epic on Azure workspaces
Test viewing a workspace (you should see plans and states)

HashiVault

Get access to our secrets management platform.

Joining both Read and Write groups for the same environment will cause access issues.

**West Non-Prod/Prod:**

- Read: `ARC_Vault_aide_0085665_nonprod_Read` / `ARC_Vault_aide_0085665_prod_Read`
- Write: `ARC_Vault_aide_0085665_nonprod_Write` / `ARC_Vault_aide_0085665_prod_Write`

HashiVault Setup Verification

Once your access is approved:

Visit your assigned Vault namespace
Login with your corporate credentials
Navigate to the secrets engines
Verify you can browse (but not necessarily read) secret paths

Monitoring Access

Set up access to our comprehensive monitoring and logging platforms.

Splunk

**General Logs (VM/Network):**

Monitoring Setup Verification

Once your monitoring access is approved:

1. Login to Cloud Splunk East
2. Try a basic search: `index=cloud_epic_azure_nw | head 10`
3. Verify you can see recent log entries

1. Login to the Production environment
2. Navigate to Applications or Infrastructure
3. Apply the Epic filter tag to see relevant resources

Team Communication

Join our team communication channels and collaboration tools.

Microsoft Teams Channels

Request access to these channels:

Primary Team Channel: Epic on Azure Platform Team
Technical Discussions: Architecture & Engineering Channel
Operations: Daily Operations & Monitoring Channel
Support: #epic-azure-support channel

Distribution Lists

Request to be added to:

Technical announcements and updates list
Incident notifications and alerts list
Change management communications list

Regular Meetings

Once you've joined the team channels, you'll receive invites for:

Daily Standups: 9:00 AM CT (Optional)
Weekly Planning: Fridays 2:00 PM CT
Monthly Architecture Review: First Thursday of each month

Communication Setup Verification

- [ ] Can access Epic on Azure team channels
- [ ] Can see channel history and recent messages
- [ ] Can post messages and reactions

- [ ] Receiving team announcement emails
- [ ] Added to relevant distribution lists
- [ ] Meeting invites appearing in calendar

Phase 2 Validation

Before moving to Phase 3, verify your development tools access:

Common Issues & Solutions

1. Verify you have base `ARC_Terraform_Users` group
2. Check if project-specific groups are approved
3. Try logging out and back in to refresh permissions

!!! failure "Vault Access Problems"

1. Ensure you only requested Read OR Write access, not both
2. Verify you're using the correct namespace URL
3. Clear browser cache and try again

1. Verify your manager added you to the team
2. Check if you need to accept team invitations
3. Some channels require separate approval
