MSNONPROD Service Account Management

Overview

Service accounts for MSNONPROD environments are not created independently. Instead, they are:

  • Initially created in the MS (production) environment.
  • Subsequently copied down to the MSNONPROD environment.

Password Management

  • CyberArk is used to manage service account passwords for the MS (prod) environment only.
  • CyberArk does not manage passwords in MSNONPROD.

Process for Accessing/Resetting MSNONPROD Service Account Passwords

  1. Submit a ServiceNow Request:

    • Request must be submitted to the DSI team.
  2. Request Details:

    • Reset the password for the relevant MSNONPROD service account.
    • Set the password to not expire.
    • Provide the updated password to the owner/requestor.
  3. Post-Request Actions:

    • The requestor should securely store the provided password in the HCP Vault.
    • The service account can then be used as needed in the MSNONPROD environment.

Notes

  • This process ensures consistency between environments while maintaining appropriate security controls.
  • Always follow internal security policies when handling or storing credentials.
