Overview
Among the enterprise-wide SMTP relays available at UHC, mailo2.uhc.com is the preferred one to use for delivering email to internal users. Usage of this SMTP relay means accepting a number of constraints which are described in knowledge base article KB0113756.
The one constraint of concern for OmniChannel is that the number of recipients per hour cannot exceed 20, since this can prevent results in AWX job status notifications not being sent, which can in turn cause delays in identification and troubleshooting of issues when such notifications are associated with failed AWX jobs.
Overriding defaults
In order to override mailo2.uhc.com defaults in general - and the 20 recipients per hour limit in particular - you must fill and submit the SMTP Relay Request form.
The form is rather straightforward. Having the following data items available in advance will assist in completing it quickly:
- Application Name
- Server IPs AND FQDNs
- Environment where your server resides? (UHG,TriCare or CMP)
- Whether your server runs a mail program capable of queuing email, e.g. postfix, sendmail, IIS, SMTP?
- Other applications utilizing email services on this server?
- How many recipients per hour will your application send?
- Do the messages contain personal/confidential information?
- If the messages contain attachments, what is the estimate size (MB)?
Once you submit the form, an item will be created in ServiceNow. Make sure to record the item number. You'll be able to use that number to search for it in ServiceNow using either the Requested Items page, or the My Service Requests page.
